Cartilage cell transplantation

Recently, the results of the study on cartilage cell transplantation (autologous chondrocyte implantation with spheroids, or ACI) were published in the Journal Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy (KSSTA) by Professor Siebold.

The article, with the original title, „Good healing potential of patellar chondral defects after all-arthroscopic autologous chondrocyte implantation with spheroids: a second-look arthroscopic assessment“ is about the arthroscopic evaluation in a follow-up (second-look) of a completely arthroscopic and minimally invasive autologous chondrocyte implantation (ACT) for articular cartilage defects in the knee joint.

Treatment for arthrosis in the patella

In the Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine 03/2021, Professor Dr. Becher, together with other specialists in the field and members of the special committee of the AGA – Society for Arthroscopy and Joint Surgery, AGA – Gesellschaft für Arthroskopie und Gelenkchirurgie gives an expert recommendation for the therapy of various patellofemoral anomalies in patients with isolated patellofemoral osteoarthritis according to the so-called Delphi method.

Even though a high consensus for the treatment was found among the experts, there are still some controversies that should be considered in clinical practice.
